Tour 4 - Water in abundance
Do you know where the Aare rises? Or how and where Sherlock Holmes came to his death? On this tour, we will take you to these locations and let you immerse yourself in the many-faceted water worlds of the Bernese Oberland.
Enjoy a kayak or SUP tour on Lake Brienz, or let the landscape pass you by on a boat trip as you wonder where the fascinating green colour of the water comes from. Take a trip to the Giessbach Falls and hike along the woodcarvers' trail up to the dreamy Hinterburgseeli lake on the Axalp. Or marvel at the natural wonders created by the unbridled power of water over thousands of years in the Aare Gorge or Rosenlaui Glacier Gorge. In the far east of the Bernese Oberland, between the Grimsel and Susten passes, you can experience the wonderful synergy of nature and hydroelectric power generation in the Grimselwelt.
(Well, and strictly speaking, the Brienz Rothorn Bahn steam railway also uses water to reach the summit 😉.)
Our recommendation for all sections of the tour: Arrive. Park. Get going. First check into your campsite, leave your vehicle and explore the area on foot, by bike or by public transport. With your personal guest card and the free CAMPING CARD BERNER OBERLAND, which you will receive on arrival, you can save money on many excursion destinations and leisure activities. And public transport is already included within a limited radius.
